Tower Bridge is one of London's most famous landmarks. It was built between 1886 and 1894, and it is 244 metres long. The bridge crosses the River Thames near the Tower of London, so it got its name from there.

Before Tower Bridge was built, people had to use a tunnel under the river. But many people died in this tunnel, so they decided to build a new bridge. The new bridge had to be high enough for big ships to go under it, but it also had to be easy for people to walk across. So they designed a special kind of bridge called a bascule bridge. This kind of bridge has two parts that can move up and down like a seesaw. When a big ship wants to go through, the two parts of the bridge move up into the air.

Every day, around 40,000 people cross Tower Bridge. There are two ways to do this: they can go across in their cars or on a bus, or they can walk across. If you're in a hurry, it's probably better to walk because there's often a lot of traffic on the bridge.
Tower Bridge is also a great place to watch the New Year fireworks. Every year, thousands of people go to the bridge to see the fireworks over the river. But if you want to get a good view, you have to get there early!
